Timothy McGee, commonly known as Tim McGee or just McGee, is a Junior Agent working on Special Agent Gibbs' team for NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Services). He first appeared in the episode Sub Rosa as an Agent stationed at the Norfolk Naval Base but he also regularly made appearances at NCIS HQ whenever the team called him for help in regards to a case. He was officially transferred from Norfolk to Washington D.C in "See No Evil", becoming the fourth and final member of Gibbs' team and also the Probie.
McGee, under the pen name Thom E. Gemcity, is the author of the Deep Six series. He also uses the pen name for other things such as in "Ignition" he plays a documentary that he had put together about jet packs which was signed Thom E. Gemcity. He is normally the target of DiNozzo's jokes. He knows a lot about computers and often works with Abby.
His relationship with DiNozzo has jokes going both ways, but with McGee on the receiving end of most of them. He has a strong friendship with Abby. His relationship with Ziva is also a friendly one.
In season eight, a Chinese-born Russian chef pointed out that McGee is of Irish descent because of his last name.
